Housing Employment Network North East (HENNE)

What is ‘HENNE’?

HENNE is a partnership between Tyne Housing (that’s us!), Gentoo Group, North Star Housing, Your Homes Newcastle, Johnnie Johnson Housing, Karbon Homes, Home Group, Livin Housing, Bernicia Homes, believe housing, Beyond Housing, Oasis Community Housing and Thirteen Group. These organisations are collectively responsible for more than 190,000 homes across the North East.

Research has highlighted that the number of barriers to gaining employment can be greater for people living in social housing. Through collaboration, partnership, and development of practical solutions, HENNE aims to support our residents and tenants to overcome barriers to employment, develop skills and experience and provide employment opportunities.

As housing providers, with deep roots in communities across the North East, HENNE partners already play a key role in supporting our tenants and residents to prepare for, find and progress into decent work. HENNE aims to build on this collective knowledge and experience of delivering a wide range of employability programmes and specialist provisions for those furthest from the employment market.

HENNE has an unrivalled ability to reach and successfully work with a range of individuals, households and communities including those who have multiple barriers to employment and who are economically inactive.

As a partnership, HENNE is committed to listening and learning from our tenants, residents, and communities, to create employment services that are shaped by their needs. HENNE seeks to boost prosperity in communities and across the region with an aim of supporting people to thrive.

“Increasing employment support and opportunities for people in social housing is a necessity to help individuals within our communities realise their potential. By working as a collective with our partners, supply chain and employers, and building on relationships with key stakeholders across the region, we can make a real difference and identify opportunities for the future.”
