Driving towards a sustainable future

As part of Tyne Housing’s commitment to supporting vulnerable people across the region, we invest in people and places to ensure our communities are a better place for all.

In a world where environmental concerns are at the forefront of global conversations, we recognise the importance of maintaining high environmental standards as an organisation. That’s why we’re excited to announce our latest switch to electric vehicles (EVs).

This decision not only aligns with Tyne’s core values of compassion and activating change but also highlights our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting a more environmentally friendly future.

This transition to electric vehicles is part of our community pledge at Tyne, where we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through investment in properties, vehicle use and energy use. We believe that by embracing sustainable practices, we can create a positive impact on both the environment and the communities we serve.

Simon Callaghan, director of housing and support at Tyne Housing, said: “At Tyne, we believe in investing in communities, and that involves working with an open mind to ensure we’re always improving where we can.

“Investing in places, the physical spaces where communities gather, grow and thrive is important to us. We do this through strategic investment in infrastructure, housing developments and environmental sustainability initiatives like the transition to electric vehicles. Our aim is to create safe, sustainable spaces that support the health and happiness of our residents and the wider community.”
