Board Member

  • Deadline 29 March 2022

There’s never been a better time to apply to join the Board of Tyne Housing, and really make a difference.

We have a new Strategic Plan 2021-2026, and a healthy financial position from which to deliver it. Most importantly we have a clear sense of purpose, a strong commitment to our region and a brilliant staff team. We have a strong board with a comprehensive skills mix amongst our current members, and now wish to strengthen those further. We currently have one vacancy with a further two upcoming in September

We are particularly keen to reach out to individuals who may not have thought that board membership was for them, and have created ‘observer’ roles to enable people to see for themselves how a board operates and the role of a board member.

We particularly welcome applicants from women and other under-represented groups.

Having done a skills audit, we do have a future requirement to strengthen our board’s skills in the areas of human resources, legal expertise and ICT systems. We’re looking to attract individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds and our number one criteria is that you want to make a difference.

With full board meetings on 21st April and 21st July and a number of sub committee meetings between now and September we would like to give interested individuals the chance to “try before you buy” and observe some of our meetings.

These are unpaid positions but we pay all reasonable expenses as well as invest in our members’ development. Board meetings are held quarterly and generally late afternoon/early evening.
