Byker Bridge House has provided housing to some of Newcastle’s most vulnerable people since 1995.
Working with Newcastle City Council, we house people experiencing a housing crisis who have nowhere else to go and work hard to ensure that everyone has a chance to “get to a better place”.
As Deputy Manager you will be providing valuable support and assistance to the Manager, deputising for them in their absence and being part of a rota to ensure that a senior officer is present during the busiest times.
You will lead a team of Homelessness Project Workers, ensuring that they provide an excellent service to our residents, as well as arranging events and activities such as cooking classes and money management sessions to promote the residents self-confidence and independence.
You will work closely with the Rapid Rehousing Coordinator to get residents moved on to more permanent accommodation when it is right for them to do so, and work with other providers of housing, including within the private sector, to open up more housing options.
You will also maintain a small caseload yourself, working with the residents to give them the skills they need to live more independently, from basic budgeting, shopping, and cooking, to helping them navigate the benefits system and prepare to hold down a tenancy of their own.
