Homelessness Project Worker – Byker Bridge House

  • Salary £19,305 - £19,778
  • Location Byker Bridge House, Newcastle
  • Status 3 x 12.5 hour shifts per week to be worked on a day and night rotational shift pattern including weekends and public holidays.
  • Deadline 28 March 2022

The post will require mostly night shifts and weekends including bank holidays

Byker Bridge House has provided housing to some of Newcastle’s most vulnerable people since 1995.

Working with Newcastle City Council, we house people experiencing a housing crisis who have nowhere else to go and work hard to ensure that everyone has a chance to “get to a better place”.

As a Homelessness Project Worker you’ll play a really important role in making this happen by helping the residents to keep the building and their rooms clean, working with them to develop simple life skills to help them live independently, ensuring they pay their service charges and abide by the house rules, and keep them and Byker Bridge House safe and secure.

Some experience of working with vulnerable people may be useful but what’s really important is having empathy, communicating well, and listening. It’s a challenging job but an incredibly rewarding one.
