We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, resilience and empathy to join our small team in the Rough Sleeping Accommodation Program providing support in self-contained flats for people who have been sleeping rough or living in hostel accommodation for rough sleepers.
Through our Rough Sleeping Accommodation Program we already provide intensive tenancy support for up to 21 tenants across Newcastle and North Tyneside. Now, in partnership with Gateshead Council, Tyne Housing has secured further funding from Homes England to expand this service into Gateshead with 4 new flats to be supported by 1 part-time Rapid Rehousing Worker 25 hours per week. This is a busy, fast paced role providing person-centred support for these four properties to help our residents maintain a tenancy, access training or employment, move away from harmful behaviour, re-engage with services, and eventually move to their own mainstream accommodation.
As the Rapid Rehousing Worker you will be out and about working directly with the people on your caseload, initially preparing individuals referred by Gateshead Council for moving into their new tenancy. You will work intensively with each person, and with a range of other stakeholders, to ensure that they get the support they need to maintain their tenancy, and ultimately to move on to permanent accommodation. You will also be expected to handle out of hours calls on a rota basis, for which an allowance is payable.
This can be both challenging and very rewarding work. We want individuals who can work on their own initiative and aren’t afraid of making a decision, but most of all we need people who can get on board with our values and want to help people get to a better place.
