Tyne Housing took over the ownership and Management of The Joseph Cowen Health Centre in 1996. We run the centre in partnership with Newcastle Gateshead CCG and Newcastle City Council.

The centre exists to ensure that people who are experiencing homelessness, or are not registered with a GP, can access primary health care and support services. Today, the Joseph Cowen Health Centre provides, Monday to Friday, a drop-in facility where visitors are able to get primary health care, alongside welfare, housing and a range of other support services. The centre also offers refreshments, food bank vouchers, showers, clothing and harm reduction service.

The Joseph Cowen Senior Project Worker’s role is to provide day-to-day direction to other staff members and volunteers who support our work whilst carrying out this vital frontline service delivery role.

The centre plays a vital role in the overall work of Tyne’s Progression Team which is made up of distinct wellbeing and learning facilities and projects.

Please note that this position is a temporary contract for a minimum period of six months
